Said to be a remake or adaptation of Elliott's earlier script 'The Thin Air' (Philco Television Playhouse, 1952).
A contemporary newspaper offers the following synopsis:
'A shy, young society woman of San Francisco's exclusive Nob Hill disappears on the night of her engagement and search for her, extending over 20 years, has its end in "Whereabouts Unknown," starring MacDonald Carey, Jan Sterling and Kim Hunter. In the teleplay by Sumner Locke Elliott, Miss Hunter plays the role of Louise Marden, the girl to whom Howard Crane (Carey) is engaged and who disappears. Jan Sterling is cast as Brenda Stevens, the girl he finally marries after years of fruitless search convinces him Louise is dead.'
