BiographyHistory

A film production company formed in 1927 by 'several Melbourne business men [...] with a nominal capital of £50,000' ('Australian Films'). Their stated purpose was to encourage Australian cinematic talent, and they released their first film, Environment in 1927. Later that year, they offered a £100 prize for stories by Australian authors that could then be adapted to film.
