BiographyHistory

Harvey Allen O'Hara was apprenticed to the Burrowa Times under the proprietorship of Harry Meurer, and eventually bought the newspaper from his former employer. O'Hara ran the Burrowa Times for almost thirty years and was succeeded by his widow Sarah Jane (Sadie) O'Hara.

O'Hara was a keen athlete, a successful racer of horses, and a member of Burrowa's Show Society and its Mechanics' Institute. A supporter of the Labor Party, O'Hara was a member of the Burrowa Municipal Council and served a term as mayor immediately prior to his death from Bright's Disease.
