The modern Ararat Advertiser links itself to the earlier versions of the Ararat newspaper, beginning with the Mount Ararat Advertiser and Chronicle for the District of the Wimmera (1857-1861), followed by the Ararat & Pleasant Creek Advertiser and Chronicle for the District of the Wimmera and then the Ararat Advertiser and Chronicle for the Stawell and Wimmera Districts (1885-1825).
