'A drama documentary on one of Australia's most famous cases where a baby disappeared from its cot in the camping ground of Ayers Rock. Its mother claimed it was taken by a dingo.'

Sub-titled 'A Personal Narration by Frank Moorhouse', the film combines dramatised re-enactments (with such sub-titles as 'Mrs Chamberlain's Testimony') with Frank Moorhouse's direct-to-camera address to the viewers. Made while Lindy Chamberlain was still in jail, the film leans more towards the prosecution's view of the case than towards the defence's argument.

Notes

  • A note on titles: Screen Australia lists the film as The Disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain, but the opening credits give the title as Who Killed Baby Azaria?. The origin of the title The Dingo Baby Case has not been traced, but was perhaps for foreign sales of the film.
