Chicon is the name given to any World Science Fiction Society's (WSFS) convention held in Chicago, USA. The first Chicon, and the second-ever WSFS convention, was held in 1940. Since then it has been held approximately every ten years. The organisation of each convention was initially undertaken by a committee. Since 2003 this has been overseen by the Chicon Corporation, an incorporated organisation formed with the initial intent of bidding for the right to host the 2012 convention.
