Irish writer of historical fiction whose works include The Dark Lady of Doona and Wild Sports of the West, with Legendary Tales and Local Sketches. William Hamilton Maxwell's novels and short stories were published and serialised in nineteenth-century Australian journals and newspapers including the Commercial Journal and Advertiser.
