BiographyHistory

Hannah Rigby was the last female convict in the Moreton Bay penal colony, and became one of the first permanent settlers in what is now Queensland by remaining after the penal colony's closure. She was also notable for serving three separate sentences of transportation: one to Sydney in 1821 (for larceny), one from New South Wales to the Moreton Bay colony in 1830 (for theft), and a third to Moreton Bay in 1837 (for theft).
