'A 'Legend' is a timeless tale of learning and immense story, a legend is also and aptly, amongst us : Jenuarrie Warrie is a Koinjmal woman born in 1944 in Rockhampton who has enjoyed a long and hard-fought career in the arts, as an educator, across the civic sector, and as an advocate for arts funding policy for decades. She is a luminary of her arts field (a painter, also specialising in works of paper) and one of our first artists to be recognised from regional Queensland, namely by winning Queensland Art Gallery's Andrew and Lilian Pederson Memorial Prize for Printmaking in 1987)'
