History

Inaugurated by Sweatshop Literacy Movement, the Hage Award for First Nations Writers was established with funding donated by Ghassan Hage from Sweatshop's republication of his The Racial Politics of Australian Multiculturalism (to fund the prize and mentorship), with additional support from Diversity Arts Australia (to provide prizes for highly commended entries).
