AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'The very first Book Week was celebrated in Australia in November, 1945—a significant year in world history and a moment in time that also marked the setting of the foundations for our nation's peak children's literature body, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). While the CBCA's purpose to enrich the lives of young people through Australian stories remains constant, the organisation and its activities have evolved, reflecting changes in society and the literary landscape of our nation.'
