BiographyHistory

The 'late Leila Hamilton, wife of Lewis A. Hamilton, grazier, of Ravenswood, Rylstone [was] born in Mildura, Vic. ... and educated at Garton College, Mildura, and later at the Presbyterian College, Melbourne, she proved herself to be of high mental calibre. An Honors student in Physiology and Anatomy, and a clever painter, with considerable ability in architectural design, she also found time to excel in English literature. French and German she spoke fluently, and by her untimely death Australia has undoubtedly lost one who would have become a notable writer.' (The Sydney Stock and Station Journal,  8 February 1924, p.6. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article128175743).
