'Sam Emery is an artist, riso-printer, and postman. While he studied art history, he is largely self-taught in his current pen-and-ink art practice detailing the streets of Melbourne. His work looks into the simple tensions and emotions of day-to-day life, visually defined with an economy of line. He is also interested in nurturing artistic community, which was first explored when he took part in Renew Australia’s Docklands Art Collective. He ran social drawing nights, charity exhibitions, and riso workshops. He now runs Tree Paper, a gallery and riso printshop under Flinders St. Railway Station in the heart of Melbourne.
