According to a review in the Canberra Times, this volume includes 'Mrs Foott's re-collections of life at Government House [where her father was Game's private secretary] in 1934, the most miserable year in New South Wales history. Her accounts of the tragedies of the depression and the snubbing of the Governor by Sydney's Conservatives have an unforced immediacy that bespeaks an observant eye and a good memory' and it also includes 'long extracts from the letters of Sir Philip and Lady Game'.
