BiographyHistory

Australian rock band formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1970 with the original line-up of Wayne Duncan (bass, vocals), Ross Hannaford (lead guitar, bass, vocals), Ross Wilson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica), and Gary Young (drums, vocals). Daddy Cool was an offshoot of progressive rock supergroup Sons of the Vegetal Mother, of which Duncan, Hannaford, Wilson, and Young were a part of. Daddy Cool rose to prominence and quick success after a series of iconic performances at Fitzroy's T.F. Much Ballroom in Melbourne (McFarlane 120).

Their debut single 'Eagle Rock' was released in May 1971 and stayed at number 1 on the Australian singles chart for ten weeks; it remains the song for which they are best known.

They disbanded in 1972, and briefly reformed in 1974-1975. They have subsequently performed occasional concerts.
