BiographyHistory

The Angels are an Australian rock band which formed in Adelaide in 1974 as The Keystone Angels with Bernard 'Doc' Neeson, John Brewster, his brother Rick Brewster, and Peter 'Charlie' King. In 1976, King was replaced by Graham 'Buzz' Bidstrup on drums and Chris Bailey took over bass duties from Neeson (who remained as vocalist). The band changed their name at this point to just 'The Angels'. Before this period however, the band's earliest formation was as the acoustic jug band named Moonshine Jug and String Band in 1970, playing in and around Flinders University campus situated in Bedford Park, Adelaide.

With 'Doc' Neeson's departure in 2000, The Angels fundamentally ceased, but different iterations of the line-up (including Neeson) toured as The Angels or with slightly variant names in the following decades, despite a series of legal injunctions. The band briefly reunited in 2008, an uneasy reconciliation that was covered by the documentary No Way, Get F*#ked, F*#k Off!
