BiographyHistory

Australian punk-rock band, founded as Kid Galahad and the Eternals in Brisbane, Queensland, in 1973 by Chris Bailey (singer-songwriter, later guitarist), Ivor Hay (drummer), and Ed Kuepper (guitarist-songwriter).

The release of their debut single '(I'm) Stranded' in September 1976 made them the first punk band outside the US to release a record (ahead of the Damned, the Sex Pistols and the Clash). They are considered one of the first and most influential groups of the genre, particularly within Australia.

The band's line-up substantially changed after the departure of Ed Kuepper in 1979, but continued recording under the name The Saints until Bailey's death in 2022.
