BiographyHistory

Australian rock band who enjoyed their main success in the 1980s; they take their name from the John Wyndham novel, Day of the Triffids. Initially formed in 1976 at Christ Church Grammar School in Claremont, a Perth Western Suburb. The original lineup went by the moniker Dalsy, a portmanteau of David McComb and Alan 'Alsy' MacDonald's names. By 1978, the band changed their name to The Triffids.

The Triffids were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2008 and their albums, particularly Born Sandy Devotional from 1986, have become part of the Australian soundtrack.
