BiographyHistory

'Matilda Grogan Lucas received her PhD from Monash University in 2021. Her thesis, entitled 'Reimagining Australia: reading the nation in literature after 2007', analyses eleven works of contemporary Australian literature published between 2007 and 2018. It reads these works as 'state-of-the-nation' texts to understand how these writers construct representations of contemporary Australia that open space to challenge and resist a dominant discourse based on settler-colonial subjectivity.'
