AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Like so many people who have served, the experiences of individual Indigenous Australians in the armed services have varied. This book shares just a few of the many stories of Indigenous service, from the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Profiles include Corporal Harry Thorpe MM, Trooper Willie Allen, Sister Marion Leane Smith, Eliza Saunders, and Captain Reginald Saunders MBE.

'Richly illustrated with photographs and artworks, this book can be used as a standalone resource to help teachers incorporate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curricula priority into their lessons. It can also be used as a companion to DVA's Indigenous Service Primary and Secondary resource kits.'
