'Peter was born in Hackney, South Australia in 1939. He was brought up in Brownhill Creek, Mitcham. He has been a champion debater, and while in Tasmania wordsmith for university reviews. Peter Gilchrist is the author of Economic Realism: Society of Lapsed Economists (1994). He is a retired teacher, from teaching positions in Tasmania and South Australia, and now lives in Grange.
