1 y separately published work icon Cage of War Kerri Reeks , Adelaide Hills : Moonglow Publishing , 2021 23838081 2021 single work novel war literature 'Australian soldier James 'Ned' Kelly is captured in Vietnam in the late 1960s by the Viet Cong and he, with others are held in a bamboo cage, in the Mekong river bank. They are rescued, seemingly by US forces, the rescuers however are part of a rogue CIA team involved in clandestine 'Tiger Hunts' a bizarre kind of war tourism. Kelly is rehabilitated at their base of operations, the Estate a secure rubber plantation near the Laos border. While recovering he meets a mysterious woman who will eventually lead him into further danger. Although he remains sceptical, he is left with little choice but to join the Estate's operations. Kelly doesn't take long to realise that things are very wrong in this jungle base. Foreign aid is being stolen, drugs are being trafficked, and political assassinations are being organised. The levels of corruption are extreme and the war crimes relentless. Ned is trapped in this Cage of War. When a Tiger Hunt goes badly, Ned is wounded and almost left for dead, but is rescued and taken to a US Hospital Ship and again patched up, but this time he is sent back home to Australia. Discharged from the army he settles down in the Adelaide Hills on an idyllic small rural property with ocean views. But when an explosive chain of murderous events from his past unfolds across the globe, his life, family and friends are all threatened. Can Ned ever be free of this 'Cage of War'?'
