BiographyHistory

'Maria Giannacopoulos is Senior Lecturer in Socio-Legal Studies and teaches Criminology in the College of Business Government and Law at Flinders University, Australia. Her research addresses the coloniality of Australian law in two overlapping fields, Aboriginal sovereignty and refugee and asylum studies. She has published widely across these two interconnected areas. She recently co-edited a special issue of Globalizations (with Biko Agozino) titled “Law, Love and Decolonization,” which includes Behrouz Boochani’s poem “Freedom in a Cage” and Omid Tofighian’s “Introducing Manus Prison Theory: Knowing Border Violence.”' (Biography, vol. 43 no. 4, 2020)
