'Founded in 2013, the Australian Fairy Tale Society focuses on collecting, preserving, discussing, sharing and creating Australian fairy tales.'

The Society applies the term 'Australia' inclusively - 'we welcome immigrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, and endeavour to operate according to Equal Opportunity and Human Rights principles pertaining to diversity of faith, race, ability, economic circumstance, sexual orientation, marital status, age and other attributes.

The Society's aim is 'to encourage academics, writers, artists, performers and enthusiasts from around the country to network and share all things fairy tale through a national website, annual conferences and local fairy tale rings'.
