Singer-singwriter Sia was born in Adelaide and attended Adelaide High School. Although her debut studio album was released under her full name, subsequent work has been released under the mononym 'Sia'.
In 2021, she released her debut feature film, Music, the story of a free-spirited former drug addict who finds herself caring for her autistic teenaged sister. The film was originally announced at the 2015 Venice Film Festival, and received mixed reviews: it was heavily criticised for the casting of a neurotypical actor in the role of an autistic protagonist and for some aspects of how autism was portrayed.
