Chris is a postdoctoral researcher at Monash Indigenous Studies Centre and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage. He was previously Senior Curator for the First Peoples archaeology collection at Museums Victoria (Melbourne, Australia). His current research is about how contemporary Indigenous communities understand colonial-era collecting practices, and how people construct and understand heritage places through physical activity, but also through narrative and memory. Chris finished his PhD in early 2019: an archaeological and anthropological project undertaken in partnership with village communities on the south coast of PNG. Chris has also been part of archaeological community-partnership projects with Australian Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and Victoria.
