  • Author's note: In June 1944, the Marquis' or French Resistance supported the Allie's D-Day landings with uprisings against Nazi occupation. On June 12, forty-three Resistance volunteers from the Drome's Venterol, Grignan and Valraes were captured and massacred by the SS.
