Although the periodical's website makes no mention of this, Celeste Deliyiannis and Emily Westmoreland, in a statement quoted in Bookseller + Publisher, established the magazine as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic: 'the aim of the journal is to ‘motivate and sustain’ the local creative community at a time when it is cut off from Melbourne CBD’s artistic culture due to Covid-19.'
