BiographyHistory

Daughter of vaudevillian Post Mason, Sylvia Post-Mason (sometimes given as Sylvia Post Mason) performed as a singer herself from an early age. She was a member of the Newton Carroll Dramatic Company in the late 1920s. In 1942, she was given charge of broadcasting station 4KR at Roma, having previously been at 4GR: her appointment was said to be the 'first appointment of a woman to the charge of a broadcasting station in Australia' ('Personal', Western Star and Roma Advertiser, 11 December 1942, p.2).
