Notes

  • Author's note:

My son was doing a show at the Edinburgh Fringe and he and his partner went on a tour of the buried city. They were both quite shaken by the tour, very creepy. A medieval city is buried underneath the modern Edinburgh city. During the plague, legend has it that the gates at the ends of Mary King’s Close were locked and plague victims were left to die. After a while, the new city was built on top. The old city has many creepy stories of hauntings. It was quite a disturbing story and I wanted to give the abandoned residents a voice. A witness.
