BiographyHistory

'Alexis Late was born in Queensland and grew up in Perth and Fremantle. She studied English Literature and History at The University of Western Australia, and has worked as a bookseller, tutor, editor and librarian. Her writing has been published in Australian Poetry Journal, Island, Southerly, Australian Book Review, Westerly, Axon, Cordite Poetry Review, Page Seventeen, Collapse Board and elsewhere. In 2014, she commenced her Year of Reading Every Australian Poet, and founded Writ Poetry Review as a result. The aim was to bring together curated poems by all the incredible contemporary poets she was reading, and to provide a platform for WA poets in the form of a poetry-dedicated online journal in the same vein as those based on the East coast. This also saw her host a series of creative events at Paper Mountain (Writ Poetry Review Presents an Evening of Poetry and Music), hoping to bring together Perth’s creative communities and her twin passions of poetry and music. She was a featured guest at the 2015 Perth Poetry Festival, the 2016 Perth International Writer’s Festival and the 2018 Queensland Poetry Festival. Her first poetry collection, written over a seven-year period, is currently with an Australian publisher.' (Source : http://writreview.com/about/)
