BiographyHistory

'Nancy graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1963. She obtained a BA degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison after which she embarked on a career in public and humanitarian service that spanned over 40 years and three continents. Nancy joined the Peace Corps in 1968 and was posted to La Ceiba, Honduras for two years. This was followed by travel to South America, New Zealand, Australia, specifically the small island of Tasmania, which she would call home for the next 50 years.

'From "Tassie, Nancy continued her public service in community welfare. First in Papua New Guinea, then back home where she managed family and social planning with adult education at TAFE (Technical and Further Education; TAFE is similar to community colleges in the US.) Upon "retirement" Nancy accepted a two-year position with UNICEF to assist with unexploded ordnance issues in Cambodia and Laos.'
