AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'In A Mountain Life, author Rusty Rowsell describes a lifetime of mountain adventures. In his 21st year, relying on his natural instincts, Rusty began leading eager friends around the wild High Drakensberg of Natal, for which only the most meagre detailed information was available. He became active in the Western Cape ranges and the Transvaal. These accounts are detailed from an endless memory of passes, shelters, climbs from earliest days in South Africa, abroad, until his recent adventures in Tasmania. The author was an active member of the South African Mountain Club which was responsible for training and rescue and other mountain services.'
