Originally an imprint of Avalon Publishing Group, Shoemaker and Hoard was retained by Charlie Winton when he sold the rest of Avalon to Perseus in 2007. Winton also acquired Counterpoint from Perseus at the same time, and later acquired the independent Soft Skull Press.
At some point after the acquisition, Shoemaker and Hoard ceased releasing new titles: some titles under this imprint may be retroactively marked as Counterpoint releases.
