AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Ancestral energy is the life force of a new planet, within a new galaxy, in a whole new era. In a future that connects technology, ceremony and ancestors, Digi Youth Arts poses the realities of being the generation responsible to the past, present and future.

"So we have to confess. The task we gave ourselves dreaming of a completely Indigneous future was actually more difficult than we anticipated. It is 2019 and as uplifted as we are about the possibility of a universe that is completely in our control (also is it ever not)we deeply understand the harsh reality of being an Indigenous person in this country. The Indigenous youth suicide rate is an epidemic that is still widely ignored. The systematic oppression that sees Indigenous children removed from their families at a rate that is unbearably disproportionate to their non-Indigenous peers is at an all time high. The seemingly okay everyday racism due to mainstream media and social media is having repercussions that go well beyond every hashtag.

"We need considered change - alongside urgency. So tonight, after you have delved into a future that was under our mob's control, we as you to take a pledge. What are you going to do to make this country a better place for Indigenou youth? What barriers will you removed that you ahve power over? What actions will you challenge? What future will you contribute to?"
