AbstractHistoryArchive Description

You could be forgiven for not noticing The Literature Centre when you first drive past it. Situated in a cosy corner of the grounds of the heritage-listed Fremantle Prison, it is a little architecturally overshadowed. But as you enter the gates of the former Old Prison Hospital the story changes. Founded by Lesley Reece (OA) in 1993 to bring Australian authors and illustrators and their audience together, it has become not only a local stalwart, but a national innovator in children's literature programming and promotion.'
