'An extraordinary musical event weaving together drama, story telling and song,Vandemonian Lags is inspired by true stories from Australia’s convict past. Narrated by Brian Nankervis and Tim Rogers, Vandemonian Lags presents a suite of powerful new songs and stories performed by seminal Australian artists Mick Thomas, Tim Rogers, Ben Salter, Van Walker, Sal Kimber, Darren Hanlon and Liz Stringer. Backing them is an all-star band featuring Weddings Parties Anything’s Jen Anderson, Mark Wallace and Michael Barclay with Craig Pilkington.

'This event re-imagines the ‘rum, sodomy and the lash’ stereotypes with historic and contemporary relevance. Written, composed and produced by Mick Thomas and Steve Thomas, Vandemonian Lags was the centrepiece of the inaugural DARK MOFO festival at Hobart’s Theatre Royal.' (Production summary)

1 The Tank Steve Thomas , Mick Thomas (composer), 2005 single work musical theatre

'The Tank is a rollicking originla music theatre work that uses a montage of drama and monologue spiced with lyrical and joyous music to celebrate the idea of family and spirit of place.

'The bleak Tasmanian valley in which The Tank is set could be anywhere in eastern Australia. It is the story of Dora Carney and her journey from adolescence to old age as a wife and mother, expert in the art of making do.'
