'A stirring read, indeed at times a gripping thriller, about a true-blue Australian. The central character, “Rusty” Paxton, grows up on a coastal New South Wales farm in the 1950s.
'He becomes involved in an array of unusual experiences such as capture by pirates of the Sulu Sea and service as a Prison Officer. He serves in Vietnam as an Australian infantryman at the Battle of Coral; is wounded but continues serving. He later travels and faces challenges posed by immigration in so many parts of the world.'
