'Shaun Tan is a Melbourne-based writer and artist. Shaun is best known for his illustrated books that deal with social and historical subjects through dream-like imagery. His works have been published around the world. Shaun has also worked as a concept artist for animated films, including Pixar's WALL-E. He directed the Academy Award-winning short film The Lost Thing. Shaun received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, honouring his contribution to international children's literature, in 2011. He has also been awarded the Hugo Award, the Ditmar Award and the Locus Award.'
