BiographyHistory

Suffragist and elocutionist.

Born in Cornwall, she arrived in Australia in 1880, where she married photographer Charles Martel. With her husband, she returned to England in 1889, but was back in Sydney by 1891, where both joined the Womanhood Suffrage League. She contested the 1903 federal election (standing for the senate as an independent candidate), but returned to England in 1904. She died in London in 1940.
