AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Matilda Langley is a beautiful young woman living with her family in the highlands of Tasmania in the 1850s. She falls in love with a sea captain and ends up with child. Disowned by her father, she flees the family farm. She is waylaid by two masked men. While escaping from the men she falls over a cliff. Because of her injuries, her clearly marked trail is found leading to the river where it is presumed she drowned. Her family believes her to be dead although no body was ever found.'
