Gillian Triggs is a human rights advocate.
As an academic, Gillian has specialised in public international law. She has been Acting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner (2018), President of the Australian Human Rights Commission (2012-2017), Acting Race Discrimination Commissioner of the HRC (2012-2013), and Challis Professor of International Law at the Sydney Law School (2007-2012). In 2019, Gillian was appointed Assistant High Commissioner for Protection at the United Nations, to oversee the UNHCR's protection work with refugees.
