'Overlooking busy Victoria Road in Sydney, just beyond the gates of the old  Gladesville Hospital, is a magnificent public drinking fountain. Its odd shape - at once geometrical and archaic - is eye catching. Long defunct, its inscription is still legible despite being more than a hundred years old.' (Introduction)
