    • As a child, Garth was influenced by the works of Alan Garner (The Owl ServiceThe Weirdstone of Brisingamen and Elidor), Ursula K. Le Guin (especially The Earthsea Cycle) and, inevitably, J. R. R. Tolkien. He also read Rosemary Sutcliff’s The Eagle of the Ninth and Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazonsseries.
    • In this interview, Garth reflects on his time as a literary agent at Curtis Brown and muses on why he had to give it up.
    • Garth would invite Tolkien, Alexandre Dumas and Jane Austen to his ideal literary dinner party.
    • Garth has been fortunate to meet his childhood literary heroes Susan Cooperand Diana Wynne Jones.
