'Hannah Kent burst onto the literary scene in 2013 with her first novel, Burial Rites. It became an international bestseller and won many awards. Her second novel, The Good People, came out recently and is destined for similar success. Hannah's also the co-founder and publishing director of the Australian literary publication Kill Your Darlings. Hannah is destined to be one of Australia's major literary figures from here on.     • Hannah remembers reading Ann M. Martin’s The Babysitter's Club series, Enid Blyton and Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women as a child, as well as the works of Paul Jennings, Roald Dahl and Tamora Pierce as a young teenager.
    • As her taste matured, she fell in love with Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy as a teenager, as well as the playwrights Tennessee Williams, Henrik Ibsen and Bertolt Brecht.
    • Hannah’s first novel, Burial Rites, was written as part of her thesis entitled ‘Speculative Biographies'.
    • Hannah would invite Thomas Hardy, Margaret Atwood, and the New Zealand writer and poet Janet Frame to her ideal literary dinner party.
