Notes

  • Show notes

    • Isobelle is a regular guest at Comic Con, and we interviewed her in the middle of Comic Con in Melbourne in 2017.
    • Isobelle remembers the impact C. S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia had on her as a child, as well as Hugh Lofting’s Dr Dolittle. But it was Enid Blyton's The Land of Far Beyond (a retelling of John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress) that had the most profound impact on her psyche, and on her development as a writer.
    • For her PhD, Isobelle is interviewing Ursula Le Guin, and has been granted access to her papers and letters.
    • Isobelle discusses cultural appropriation, and the work of James Moloney.
    • And of course, Isobelle shares her thoughts on J. K. Rowling, and how Harry Potter opened up a way of thinking about books that didn't exist before.
