Elicia Taylor completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of Newcastle in 2015, with a dissertation examining the relationship between A. O. Neville (Western Australia's Chief Protector of Aborigines) and the New Norcia mission in 1915 to 1940. Portions of her research were later published in Journal of Australian Indigenous Issues.
In 2018, Taylor was completing a PhD, also at the University of Newcastle, on the effect of World War I on single women and widows.
