Two old sailors meet on the wharf where one fishes every day; the other, seeing no value in fishing, invites him up to see his own hobby, collecting Chinese artefacts. But the fisherman has no interest in art and the collector is terrified that he might drop an object.

May have been inspired by Eedy's uncle, Captain G.W. Eedy, who sailed for many years with the China Navigation Company and was a notable collector. Eedy died in 1921 (the year after this story was published): some of his collection was sold at auction, but much remains in the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
