AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Sometimes it is only possible to see something clearly by choosing to view it through a different perspective. Travel writing offers an insight into foreign places through the perspective of a foreigner. There are ethical considerations to keep in mind when providing a commentary on a place a person has only perused for a few hours or days, yet for travellers who take the time to immerse themselves long-term in a particular region, there can be much to learn from their insight.' 'When preparing an issue of Transnational Literature, the last thing I do before writing the editor’s note is to compile the contributors’ page. For some that might seem like a mere formality. I’m not sure how many people will click through and view the list of bio notes of our authors – forty-odd academics, students, poets, memoirists and novelists from just about everywhere you can think of: Saudi Arabia, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Greece, Bangladesh, South Africa, USA, UK, Italy, Malaysia and, yes, Australia.'
