Academic, with a particular focus on Chinese modernization, modern Chinese intellectual and literary history, Lu Xun studies, Nietzsche and China, and Chinese newspaper censorship in Hong Kong.
In 2017, he was associate professor in the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at The University of Queensland.
